Meet Savailolo Vui Sagato from the village of Falelauniu-tai.
She is a 63-year-old mother who resides with her family at Falelauniu.
She told the Village Voice yesterday that life in Samoa is great.
However, she also said that the only problem that needs to be fixed is their road.
“We’ve been living here for three years now,” said Savailolo.
“And we are grateful to God for providing this land for us. Life here at Falelauniu is great.
“The only problem that we face is the condition of our roads.
“As you know, there are a lot of different families from different parts of Samoa moving to Falelauniu and are living here.
“Therefore, we need better roads because people have cars and if the roads are not good then it will be hard for us.
“The road is very narrow and it’s in a bad condition, but we have so many families living in this area of Samoa.
“And that’s the only thing we want to fix. We need help with our road.”
Despite this, Savailolo said all is well at Falelauniu-Tai.
“Everything is fine here and life is great for us living here at Falelauniu-Tai.
“We used to stay at Mulinu’u, but we moved here three years ago.”
According to Savailolo, there is no big difference between how life was for them at Mulinu’u compare to their life now at Falelauniu.
“The only difference is that when we were at Mulinu’u it was easy for us to go to Apia because its closer to town.
“We used to walk to town and back when we were at Mulinu’u, but now we have to catch the bus if we want to go to town. But that’s okay; it’s not a major difference.
“But we love our life here. We are grateful for this piece of land given to us. We have enough land for our house, a small plantation and a vegetable garden for our family.
“As you can see, I am now working on cleaning my land and doing some chores outside of our house. It is good for exercise and I love to keep my land clean.
“All in all, life here is great and we have God to thank for all His blessings and guidance upon us.”
