A mother’s joy through hardship and struggles

Motherhood knows joy even during the hardest trials of life.

It’s a challenging role that requires sacrifice and faith towards one’s family.

That was the opinion of Masina Siala to the Village Voice team yesterday.

Masina and her husband have three children, and they’re still in school.

The Village Voice team met her yesterday while on her way to the shop to buy lunch for her children.

“Being a mother, I have learned to rise above any challenges in life and I have found myself lifted to new heights while stretching myself beyond any and all limits I once put upon myself,” the mother from Afega said.

“In my honest opinion, I’ve experienced more adventure in mothering my children than I could have ever imagined.”

“Motherhood gives me an excuse to stay young and tough forever.”

“I’ve heard some mothers’ say that they are tired, but that’s not me, up until today I am still enjoying myself as a mother beyond measure – because I love my children.”

Masina said motherhood was her life, joy, passion and greatest achievement.

However, she does acknowledge that there are challenges of motherhood.

“I know all the mothers have experienced that there are wonderful days and not so good days, but feeling it all, good or bad gives my life a sense of purpose,” Masina said.

“But my children’s smiles, their giggles their mischievous behaviour most of the times, give me hope.

“I can have the worst day, but having a time together and listening to my children talk about their days and what they learned in school makes my day.

“And all is right and good in my world!”

She has a message for mothers.

“To be honest, life is great, but life is even better once you have been blessed to be a mother,” Masina said.

“We have to take care of our children as our first priority in life, no matter what life throw at us – our children should be prioritised.

“We should remind ourselves that they’re God’s gift and we should look after them and take them to school.

“Life is getting tougher and tougher every day, and education is a one way forward to their success.

“And having a good education is important because without a good education you will hardly find them a right way to go.

“Remember education is the only key to success for our children,” she said.
