BE RESPONSIBLE PARENTS: Mulifanua Posenai from Falelauniu.

Children are a gift from God and they will grow up to be leaders of tomorrow.

“So it is our responsibility as parents to look after them,” Mulifanua Posenai from Falelauniu said.

“I believe it’s our responsibility as parents to take them to school no matter what and we also have to support them in everything they take part in,” the mother of seven told the Village Voice team yesterday while on her home from dropping three of her kids in school.

Mrs. Posenai, 47, said it was more than just taking her to children to school every day.

“Our kids are the leaders of tomorrow and there are no parents out there who want their children to end up without a good future,” she said.

“We might not be together with them all their lives, but this is our job and responsibility right now, for us to push them so that they can be successful.”

Mrs. Posenai said if you showed love and affection towards your children in their young age, they would do the same to you in your old age.

“If you look after and care for your children while they are young, when they become successful in the future, they will never forget the struggles you encountered to help them and they will have to look after us when we get old.”

Mrs. Posenai said what she’s doing was not an easy task.

“I am not complaining but I think all the mothers out there understand what I’m saying because taking care of my children and looking after them is not an easy task, but at the same time they are my children and they are my blessing.”

Mrs. Posenai also has a message to all mothers in Samoa.

“I know there have been so many issues regarding children nowadays, so from one mother to all mothers out there, we have to push our children to attend school no matter what.”

“I feel sorry for those young kids selling stuff around because they deserve to be in school, let’s treasure our blessings from God,” she said.
