Students meet their champ

It was an opportunity of a lifetime for Team Leader Joseph Iosefo and representative students of Don Bosco Alafua to meet the former World Champion, Lupesoliai Laauliolemalietoa Joseph Parker. 

Don Bosco students who had won TV3’s Cheer for Joseph Parker Campaign, shook hands with their idol after Lupesoliai presented a $300 prize money on behalf of TV3 who initiated the campaign, to rally the support of the community leading up to the much anticipated fight between Parker and Joshua on April 1st, 2018. 

Don Bosco joined the Cheer for Parker Campaign early on in the competition which was an instant hit with Social Media fans. The competition invited individuals, groups or businesses to send to TV3 a Cheer for Parker in show of support for his fight.

The competition saw not only participating schools from around the country but prompted Samoans worldwide to send their messages for the former World Champ. Don Bosco’s cheer was well liked by over 11,000 people, shared 4,000 times and viewed  358,000 times. There were 12 other entries that secured similar statistics but Don Bosco came out the top favorite. 

In addition to the prize money, Don Bosco received 4 boxes of Fanta Drinks from Vailima Breweries and $500 tala worth of $50 tala top up vouchers from Digicel who had partnered with TV3 to enable broadcast of the fight that saw Lupesoliai make history for fighting Joshua til the end of the full 10 rounds without a knockout. 

Lupesoliai Joseph Parker has yet to confirm his next fight which TV3 looks forward to broadcasting for Samoa.
