Why family will always fly with Samoa Airways

Convenience is why Samoa Airways is the best option for Samoans to fly.

The experience was shared by Lei’ataua Jerry Brunt, who said he was amazed with the professionalism showcased by the Flight attendants when his family flew to Auckland on Samoa Airways for the first time.

Launched last year November, Lei’ataua regrets not flying with Samoa Airways sooner.

A Lawyer and Owner of Orator Hotel, Lei’ataua said he was impressed.

“From the check-in counter onto the plane with the air hostess, our family will fly on Samoa Airways from now on,” he said.

“What really got me is that when I paid for a can of soda, I offered my credit card, but was informed they take our Samoan Tala."

“I was ecstatic with that revelation. There is no other airline that takes cash, but we do."

“The service on point, food was delicious and even better is that if you travel business class; you get two checked in pieces at 32kgs each."

“We travelled economy to N.Z. and business coming back home and it was worth it and it was cheap airfares,” said Leiataua.

Leiataua then called on members of the public to support Samoa’s National carrier.

“Let's be patriotic for once and be constructive with criticism on ways to better improve our Samoa Airways."

“Like us humans, Samoa Airways is not perfect just like all the other airlines."

“For us, we have the chance to make Samoa Airways better."

“And no, the actual aircraft is not breaking into pieces like some have made it out to be."

“I travelled last month and on my way back home, I was crushed when I overheard some women laughing about our Samoa Airways, noting the flight was cancelled."

“I was not sure why but the mocking really got to me and I felt ashamed that I was one of these people who were not supporting our local airline,” said Leiataua.

“Also the interior was top notch. I am proud of our Samoa Airways.”

Leiataua highlighted the significance of Samoa having its own airline, most especially for the hoteliers.

Last month, Minister of Education, Sports and Culture, Loau Keneti Sio, has appealed for public support regarding Samoa Airways.

Four months into the airline’s operations, Loau said Samoa needs to get behind the national carrier to boost its fortunes.

“Samoa Airways is our airline,” he said.

“The profitability and the growth depend solely on the support of the Samoan people.”

Samoa Airways was launched in November last year.

A few months into its operations, sources told the Samoa Observer the airline is struggling to meet its monthly targets.

As reported earlier, Loau said it is natural for businesses to struggle in the beginning. And while the airline’s management is trying their best, he said members of the public, especially Samoans, can help.

“This is our airline, we should support it,” he said.

“This is our identity, our pride and joy and this is what other countries can only dream of, but we have pulled through and we now have our airline."

“However in order for the airline to succeed, it needs the support of our Samoan people."

“But just like our Manu Samoa, that is our team, despite the poor results, we will still support our boys in blue because it is our team whether through finances or moral support,” he said.

“The same with Laauliolemalietoa Joseph Parker, he’s a son of Samoa and of course we have invested so much money in his journey because he’s Samoan."

“That is the same proposition that should be applied to our airline, it needs our support.”
