BETWEEN THE LINES

WHAT A TEASER!

If the Samoa Rugby Union needed some publicity for the upcoming game to be held at Apia Park later in the year, the Auckland Blues rugby side gave it to them by defeating the Melbourne Rebels 56-18 on Thursday night.

Although the rugby experts have warned us not to get carried away with this early season rout, Blues supporters are already shaking the mothballs of the Auckland jerseys.

‘Make Auckland Blues great again’ without the help of a Donald J Trump is the fervent hope of those supporting the Blues.

Meanwhile, other more cautious fans are awaiting the clash against the Chiefs before getting too carried away.

RELATIVE RELATIONS

It’s all relative when it comes to being connected.

When a Samoan woman from Samoa who is in trouble with the American Samoa Immigration Department is called a ‘foreign woman’ by a person living in American Samoa, we realize that the deep harbor at Pago Pago and the mighty Pacific is not the only divide between us.

Fair enough for the name I suppose although not our fault I hear some of you say.

After all in the big carve up by the colonials, we didn’t have any choices in the decisions made as to who got what islands.

And here we were thinking we were maybe brothers, sisters or at least cousins with our neighbours?

Not invited

The Marist Sports Week last week was apparently hugely successful minus one incident at the Tanoa Tusitala.

A source told BTL a former Manu Samoa player turned up uninvited to an invites only function and caused a stir.

Bottles were flying and the cops were involved.

It was a sad end for what had been a great week.

The lesson here?

If you are not invited, don’t bother going.

But then this is Samoa right?

Everything must go… or in this case go to everything!
