Dear Editor, 

It is very unfortunate that Unasa Iuni Sapolu and her S.S.I.G./O.L.P. petition didn’t proceed through the Legislative Assembly as promised to be presented on 23 January 2018.

I am told by one of their faithful supporter Afioga Albert Ainuu and that it was unfortunate that their petition to Parliament was not accepted by the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly due to failure to meet and conform with legal requirement. 

This is simply due to Unasa and the S.S.I.G./O.L.P. failure to comply with clear requirements under the Parliament Standing Order section 57 (8). 

That particular section clearly prohibits such petition that hasn’t been dealt judicially in a Court of law by way of application. This is especially so when there is legal remedies available in Court for such claim. Their claim is that the L.T.R.A. 2008 is unlawful and unconstitutional.

As I said earlier on Samoa Observer and on many one on one conversation or online debate with Afioga Unasa and to other S.S.I.G.

The petition to Parliament was immature and its fate was inevitable. Not only because of their failure to read the legal process or the Standing Order (Tulafono Tumau o le Fono) which is very unfortunate for a lawyer but also their obvious failure or amateur in reading politics in Samoa.

Now my question to you, what is your next move Unasa?
