Bluesky connects students

Bluesky hosted close to 50 students who were recently awarded scholarships to study in New Zealand through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade at its Maluafou office, where they gave out free Bluesky NZ SIM cards for easier and cheaper communications with families in Samoa.

The presentation, led by Country Manager, Alex Abraham and Marketing Communications Lead, Faletaulupe Solofa, was done with the aim of providing awareness of Bluesky NZ services, so the students who will be heading there to study can make use of and support a company owned and operated by Samoan people.

They were briefed on the benefits of using Bluesky NZ, which includes cheaper calling rates to their parents, families and friends here in Samoa, as well as monthly plans which gives free minutes, texts and data.

“We understand that you as students will have a tight budget to stick to,” Solofa said.

“We have come up with a range of Student Plans which will ensure that your topup goes further than if you use the Pay-As-You-Go rates.  You can call your families back here in Samoa, and there is also the option for your parents to topup your phone from Samoa.”

Mr. Abraham reminded that Bluesky NZ is all about making communication easier and cheaper for Samoans.

“We know that for some of the students who will be leaving to take up their scholarships, this will be the longest time they’ve been separated from their parents and the rest of their families,” he said. “We want to help make the separation easier by ensuring that both the students and the parents have access to the affordable calling rates between Bluesky Samoa and Bluesky NZ.”
