Australian couple, Jane and Pi Ng flew in from Melbourne to celebrate their birthdays in Samoa.

“We are here for holiday and also to celebrate our birthdays on the same day. I’m 65 and my husband is 70,” Jane told the Dear Tourist team.

“It passed already but we failed to celebrate it here in Samoa because at that time the flight to Samoa was quite expensive and it was until now it’s less expensive.”

They arrived yesterday morning with much excitement looking forward to their experience in the islands as they have been planning for quite some time to visit Samoa.

“We don’t want to go to the places that we have been before, we have been to Fiji and Vanuatu and it was different. I know Samoa is not a popular destination but we just gave it a try,” Jane said.

“We are lucky to find a room at Aggie Grey’s when we arrived this morning (yesterday) and it shocked me that they offered us breakfast and we thought it was just for tomorrow (today) since we just check in when we arrived.”

They will be spending the rest of their vacation at Saletoga Sands Resort, and for the few hours they’ve spent in Samoa, they found the environment to be amazing, clean and peaceful.

“Samoa is beautiful and the environment is quite clean because we have been to dirtier places and Samoa is not one of them. We are quite happy that we made the right decision of coming here to Samoa even though we just arrived within couple of hours.”

Jane said they were very impressed with the unique culture, which was showcased at the Samoa Tourism Authority (S.T.A.) cultural show.

“The last time we went to something like this was at New Zealand they also have a culture show but you have to pay a lot of money to go in so not everybody goes there.”

The couple acknowledged the kind and fantastic taxi driver who told them about the culture show at the S.T.A.

“I’m also keen in visiting the Lupesina Tree sort. I’m hoping that is not too difficult to get there like it’s a very unique thing about Samoa. We all know that there are trees everywhere but Samoa seems to be able to make use of the trees very well and I’m so excited to know that the people are very skillful.”

They look forward to visiting other tourist sites around Upolu before they depart for their homeland.
