The Leadership Samoa Cohort 2017 presented their research findings addressing issues of importance to Samoa’s development yesterday.

Research projects conducted by four teams from Savai’i, Apolima, Manono and Upolu focused on youth entrepreneurs, voluntary blood donations in Samoa, sustainable tourism and Samoa’s electoral system.

Selected panel members relevant to each topic were invited to give feedback on each project and their findings.

Savai’i’s group dealt with the untapped potential of youth (18-30) in the marketplace.

The Apolima group researched why voluntary blood donations in Samoa are low.

Benefit of sustainable tourism to Samoa was the focus of the group from Manono, and Upolu’s team asked which electoral system best suits Samoa.

Leadership Samoa C.E.O. Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun said it is important to include development in research projects. 

He said the research aims to generally improve life for the public in different and creative ways.

The presentation was well attended by interested members of the public.

Leadership Samoa runs a leadership programme aiming to empower leaders and build understanding of the issues affecting the development of Samoa.

It is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, which was founded in 2010.
