Samoa dominates boxing tourney

The Team Samoa Boxing Amateur took part in the Tri Nation held in Suva, Fiji last Saturday 16th July 2016. According to the Team Official Faletolu Su’a, the team consists 6 boxers from each weight category. 

The team coaches are Lionel Fatupaito and Tavu’i Mike Lemisio. 

Team Samoa took 4 golds in weight categories; 64kg Faasala Livai, 75kgs Alema Leleisiuao, 81kgs Iva Lagolago and 91kgs plus Filimaua Hala. And 2 silvers in weight categories; 69kgs Ropati Hall and 91kgs Faamanu Aukuso. 

This Tri Nation tournament has just started this year in Fiji and the event would be happen every year between 3 Pacific Island Nations (Samoa, Tonga and Fiji). Tonga will host this event next year 2017.

Overall Samoa came 1st in the table, Fiji Second and Tonga at last. Faletolu thanked the Government for the support through Minister of Education and Sports Loau Keneti Sio and the Ministry. 

The Samoa Rugby Union Inc for using HPU Gym for our training in the evening, the Marist Sports Club for using their field in our training in the morning, SASNOC, TAB, PLT constructions, Graig Construction and Toa Gas Company for helping to prepare our team to participate to this regional event.
