Did the former Head of State really cry?

Dear Editor

With regards to your article “The Letter that made the former Head of State cry,” I am flummoxed.

Perhaps then, the taking over of the Head of State role by the current Head of State Tuia’ana Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aleto’a Sualaivi ii is the will of God Almighty knowing Tupua Tamasese Efi no longer has the leadership quality?

But did Tupua Tamasese Efi really cry? May I ask?

If so, then I would categorically say, no matter the circumstances, a strong leadership would never falter but to remain steady and truly for the people of the organisation and community that he or she pertain to lead.

I would never follow a weak leader who cries. It would only give me reasons to believe I have no hope. I need a strong leader who encourages me to battle on; no matter what lies ahead.

Saddened me for his reacting to a “just mere letter being published in a newspaper” that would surely tells me though that Tupua Tamasese Efi, the former Head of State, is very weak when consoled, had crumbled and being exposed to a bait blowing by just a gentle breeze.

I had thought, Tupua Tamasese Efi would have taken a moment first and foremost to think, and respect the Tuia’ana who is now the head of the current government rather than coming out swinging with all guns blazing and firing on all cylinders.

How can Tupua Tamasese Efi do this; for him being a former Head of State, and his signature is bold in the disputed law with the ink still wet and is dripping not yet dry?

When the voyage confronts a fierce storm that triggers the surf to pile in metres ahead, the skill of a true seaman and skipper takes over the helm to steady the ship.

I can only hope that God Almighty will guide Tama Aiga Tuia’ana Tuimaleali’ifano Sualauvi II the Head of State and his government to provide what is best for Samoa for now and years ahead.

And may God bless Samoa.

With my utmost respect,
