I write in reference to the address by the former Head of State. I can’t see an ambiguity.
This ambiguity argument is all about letting both the P.M., A.G. and the former Head of State off the hook as if all that occurred was innocent and they were all motivated by virtue and determined to put the interests of the people of Samoa first.
The P.M. made an unconstitutional deal to break up the customary land for the benefit of investors in 1998, so every time he claims that customary land rights of Aiga are protected, he has either forgotten his deal with all the money he has taken to fund the Torrens System or he is simply deceiving our people until they are destroyed and unable to resist.
Yes the Head of State now claims that he was deceived. Many have already criticised him for good reason because in a way he put his own interests before those of the Aiga of Samoa.
Leases are permitted but not leases which coupled with other laws are designed to alienate Customary Land.
Tricky political schemes, lies and unconstitutional laws are all devices to alienate Customary Land - all forbidden and rendered void if made into law because they are nothing more than dishonest tricks to avoid the clear intention contained in Samoa’s supreme law namely the Constitution that Aiga remain owners of Customary land unless we choose in a referendum to give up our ownership.
Show me a single Samoan stupid enough to give up the land of his or her ancestors. The H.R.P.P. certainly avoid a referendum because it marks the end of their pursuit of greed at the expense of the people of Samoa.
