You can help us by reporting them

Dear Editor,

In response to Steve’s letter in your paper on Thursday called “So who is responsible?”, that is such great info if only you knew where to go.

I mean it is the Fisheries Division, MAF that regulates these types of fisheries (illegal sea cucumber harvest) which is like you said is illegal.

So please feel free to pop in our office (behind the RSA) or ring up 20005, 8420369 or better email us on fisheries [email protected]

There is currently a court case by MAF and MNRE prosecuting alleged Chinese caught catching our freshwater prawns (ula vai) illegally and using illegal chemicals.

So we have the law and we very much appreciate our public to assist in reporting these issues to us the authorities to ensure that these practices are stopped.

Like you as a Samoan, nothing upsets us more than foreigners that do not obey our laws.

So we are on the same side, help us out and REPORT!

That is how we raided the biggest sea cucumber illegal operation in Samoa, because it took one passionate Samoan (who is a lady by the way) to report it, even though there were many other Samoans assisting this operation...which is very sad in my view.
