Culture is what brought Greg and his family to Samoa. 

While some come for relaxation, Greg and his wife, Eden Baker came to Samoa with the intention of showing their kids, Annabelle, 4, and Tommy, 3, Samoa’s beautiful culture.

“It is important for us to let the kids see the different cultures and that they appreciate more what they have. This is a part of life a young child needs to experience,” Greg explained to Dear Tourist.

“We want to go out and really see the country and bring the culture closer to the kids. We are planning to go to a village and local schools, so the kids can compare that to what it is like home,” he said. 

The family arrived in Samoa yesterday morning. They have just spent a few hours in Samoa. Even in this short time, they have already had a little impression of the beautiful country here compared to New Castle in Australia, where they live.

“The people are laid back and relaxed,” Eden shared.

“Very friendly and helpful as well,” Greg added.

The couple has been to Fiji with their family. They enjoyed their time there. After hearing from their neighbours about Samoa, they decided to come to this piece of paradise.

“It is quite similar, we stayed both times in a resort. Fiji was great, that was the reason we wanted to come again to a place near the beach, so we came here,” Greg said.

“I do like the beaches. I will go snorkelling for the very first time,” Annabelle said.

Greg explained: “She is more confident in the water now and they can do some more stuff. So they are going to try new things.

“I work six days a week, so I am here to spend time with my family and relax,” Greg said, adding they are not interested in big cities.

So for them, Samoa is a perfect place to find the balance between learning more about a new culture, exploring and just lying on the beach.

“We are looking forward to going out and seeing more of the country than just the pool in the resort,” he said. 

They are in Samoa for nine days.
