Don’t give up!

Dear Editor,

Re: Speak up, don’t be afraid!

Thank you Mata’afa for the well-written and well-spoken speech. We the truth-seekers and truth-promoters of Samoa may be small in number but if we say our message of truthfulness and honesty clearly and loudly then no one but God can stop us.

Many of us Samoans want a government that is active in creating an environment where honesty, truthfulness and hard work exists and is promoted. At the very least government should try to do it.

And it starts from our leaders then it will trickle all the way down to the workers and citizens of Samoa. We need leaders that show us that they are trying their best to stop all manner of fraud, waste and abuse in every government department.

Nearly all business people want to do the right thing and be honest, otherwise they will be caught and go out of business. If the business people see that the government is doing everything honestly then they will want to pay more tax because they know that their hard-earned money will be going to a good cause.

If the government is corrupt and practice fraud, abuse and waste then the business reluctantly try and pay a small amount of tax because they know that their hard earned money is not being used properly by government.

It is better to keep honest money in one’s pocket then give it all to thugs and thieves who will misuse it.

Samoa Observer keep up the good work. Never give up doing the right thing even when we see no results. There are many of us Samoans who want truthfulness and honesty (The Christ principles) applied to government, business and our every day lives.
