The residents at Mapuifagalele have a special place in the hearts of members of the Samoa Fa’afafine Association (S.F.A.).

This week, S.F.A. donated $3,000 to Mapuifagalele, money from proceeds raised during the first “Fa’afafine’s Got Talent” (F.G.T.) programme.

Producer of F.G.T., and S.S.A.B. Marketing Manager, Asia Alosio Stanley, presented the donation.

“I must say it has been very challenging and tough to the point where I nearly gave up as well as the hardworking production team,” Stanley said. “God has been so amazing; it is wholly true that if you put your trust in him he will direct your paths and he did!”

Stanley said the idea of F.G.T. came from consultations between President of Samoa Fa’afafine Association, So’oalo Roger Stanley and Taumeasina’s Hotel Manager Nathan Bucknall.

“I was asked to produce the show and I was a bit uncertain. I know it would require a lot of time, commitment, brainstorming but then I was thinking – actually there is a need for this show to take place in Samoa, our country needs vibrant shows such as Fa’afafine’s Got Talent.

“Fa’afafines has so many talents but there is no competitive platform for them to showcase their talents.

“I was also very keen to produce this show with the help of my great F.G.T. production team because I wanted the Fa’afafines of Samoa to give something to the Home of the Elderlies at Le Mapuifagalele for Christmas as well as the Juvenile Centre at Mulifanua but predominantly to showcase and expose their talents.

“G.M. Nathan, the fa’afafine community here in Samoa knows your heart especially in encouraging the younger fa’afafines to always dream big and believe in themselves.

“Our Gold sponsor S.S.A.B, my second family, my very own first cousin Mrs Fiti Leung Wai.

Stanley also acknowledged the judges, Leitisia Siaosi, Miss Roe aka Kevin Schuster, Fonoti Mr. PJ Ieriko and Miss Blondie Alefosio for sharing their talents with the contestants.

Stanley also acknowledged the reigning Miss Samoa Fa’afafine Association Charlize Leo, Auntie Blondie, Aoge Moto, Marlene Kathleen Mulipola, Auntie Mandy, Auntie Tuitogamatoe Julie, Ashley Alvis Augustine Meredith, Malaki Iakopo and Joanne Kabeabealani Iosefa for their utmost support of the programme.
