Bluesky brings the sunshine to Savai’i

Since 2015, Bluesky has sponsored the Iva Sevens tournament held every year in Savai’i. Last week, for the first time ever Bluesky turned this annual event into a fun family day for the whole of Savai’i.

Families and participants Savai’i-wide were invited to join a fun day with bouncy castles, water slides, slip and slides, games and loads of prizes and giveaways including chips & drinks provided by Krissy Snacks & Devondale.

The Bluesky Iva Savai’i Sevens tournament started on Friday 20th October with 6 Colleges around Savai’i contending for the first time for the top 7s team at a college level. Don Bosco and EFKS combined entered a competitive grand final with Don Bosco coming away with a victorious 10 - 7 win. They were rewarded winner of the College day tournament. 

Yesterday was the main day and the last leg of the tournament with 16 teams contending for the grand final trophy and prizes. The teams were:

1) Aoga le Vaai; 2) Vikings; 3) Tama o le lava; 4) Lalomauga; 5) Lulu mai Vini; 6) Papa Youth; 7) Taga; 8) Tufulele; 9) Saasaai; 10) Malotau; 11) Vaitoomuli; 12) Moamoa

13) Iva White Lion; 14) Satalo; 15) Knights; 16)Faala

The grand final was between Iva White Lions club and Aoga Le Vaai from Lauli’i. Aoga Le Vaai won the grand final 4 tries to nil. 

“As part of our yearly sponsorship we contributed $10,000 cash to the  White Lions Iva Club who diligently run this competition for the whole of Savai’i,” said Alex Abraham, Country Manager of Bluesky Samoa. 

“It was wonderful to see the whole community come out and support. Children were so excited to have a fun day and we were happy to host the family fun day for the first time in Savai’i,” said Sanjeewa Perera, Bluesky Samoa’s Chief Commercial Officer.

“We love the spirit in Savai’i and it was so rewarding to do something for our customers and families of Savai’i.”

We’ve always supported our Manu Samoa 7s team and this is a great way to continue to grow the game at a grass roots level. We see so much talent in Savai’i and we want to help grow it.”
