This week marks the end of the service of the longest serving Legislative Drafting Advisor (L.D.A) to the Office of the Attorney General.

Rupeni Nawaqakuta commenced his term with the A.G’s office in November 2011, with assistance from the Australian Government through the P.A.C.T.A.M initiative.

Over the course of five years, his assistance has seen the growth of the Division from a small team into the 12 member Division it is today.

He has drafted some of the most complex pieces of legislation in the past five years.

Mr. Nawaqakuta has been instrumental in the completion of law reform for the government while at the same time building capacity of local drafters.

The Office of the Attorney General acknowledges his valuable service towards development of legislative drafting in Samoa, and sincerely wishes Mr. Nawaqakuta and his family, all the very best in his future endeavours in the region and beyond.
