COUNTRY NEEDS HELP: Matato’elau Liu from Solosolo and Letogo.

Helping the country and its people should be the government’s priority. They are obligated to since they are paid with taxpayer funds.

Matato’elau Liu of Solosolo and Letogo shared his thoughts to the Village Voice team about the problems that he’s facing in the village.

“The only thing I needed help with was water,” he told the Village Voice.

“Our water runs from five o’clock in the morning up to eight o’clock at night time and that’s it.”

“The water here is controlled by the village council so basically it’s their water and they can control it however they want.”

Matato’elau said there was a programme that came and discussed their help for water tanks before and it never happened.

“There was a programme that came to donate help for water tanks back then, I mean we’ve talked about it and they never came back anymore.”

“But I told them, please this is the only thing I need is a water tank; but now I don’t know where they’re at.”

“Water isn’t always running and that is why I need a water tank so I can store water in.”

“As you can see other families here have water tanks now while we are still waiting and it’s sad to know that the government is not helping out their own people.”

He added “Another problem here are the roads; as you can see the roads are really bad.”

“They have been damaged due to heavy rains and that is why the roads look like this; it’s crooked and a lot of holes.”

“It is things like these that the government should be focusing on for the betterment of the people and their villages.”

“These are not new issues so something should be done already because it’s for Samoa’s own people.”
