Meet Kiuga Seve of Vaitele and Vaisala.
He is 19-years-old and his main priority is working for the betterment of his family.
The Village Voice spotted Kiuga Seve as he was on his way to work.
“I have ten people in my family so to me that’s a big number and when you have a big family, you can’t afford to sit around and not do anything for them,” he tells Village Voice.
“I have two other siblings that work as well and it’s all because of family.”
Kiuga said working life is challenging but giving up has never crossed his mind.
“It’s tough, I mean honestly I didn’t expect myself to work at nineteen but I guess life is like that.
“Sometimes life just loves to surprise us in all sorts of ways.”
“I’ve been at my job for two years and I’m telling you, it’s not easy to work.”
“But then again, who said it was? Sometimes things seem easier when you’re just observing but once you actually do it, it’s not really that simple.”
“But I try my best because I’m working for my family, not anyone else.”
“You know, for me I’m not the type to look at other people’s lives and have a say about it.”
“I know a lot of people are complaining about the fact that there’s too many youth out there, just roaming around and not doing anything.”
“All I could say about that is that it’s up to the person and how they choose to live their lives.”
“All I focus on is the choices I’m making and how it’s going to affect my life.”
“I mean I’m not going to get anything good just by following what all the other youth are doing right?”
“I could be right and I could also be wrong sometimes with the decisions I’m making but then that’s how life is because no one is perfect.”
