Fatia Pei from Luatuanu’u desperately needs a job to help his family.

The 25-year-old caught up with the Village Voice yesterday morning while he was on his way to clean their compound.

While looking  for a job, he  also spends time working at the plantation to help his father.

“I left school about five years ago. I wanted to help my father in the plantation because he is the only one providing for our family,” he told the Village Voice

“All of my other siblings are young and my father depends on me to do all the chores in our family.”

But Fatia said his family needs money and that is why he is looking for work.

“My father is getting old and he needs me to provide money for the family,” he said.

“At the moment, we are just thankful that we have our own plantation to develop and depend on instead of asking other people for food. But it would be a lot better if I was employed.”

Fatia said he understands life today is far different from the olden days.

“The cost of living is very expensive nowadays,” he said.

“Our family sometimes cannot afford a single good from the shop and when we have money we save it for our bills and family obligations.

“I also have sisters and brothers who are in school so everything in life is all about money.”

Fatia said he would take any job. He wouldn’t mind work that involves labour and farming.

“I’ll be happy with any starting salary,” he said.

“What I want is to help my family because I see that life today is not easy anymore.”

Fatia can be contacted on 40505.
