An opportunity for Samoa

Dear Editor,

Re: Samoa bids for Pacific Games

A missed opportunity for Tonga but for legitimate concerns due to financial issues.

To some extent it would be a boost to their economy but if the big boys are not willing to front the bill for infrastructure developments than it will be a smart move for Tonga not to catch a dropping knife at the expense of their debt to equity ratio.

It seems like Tonga are living within their means instead of bowing down to the money machine (bankers) to dictate to them how the game is played.

Samoa on the hand can be beneficial for hosting the games since they have the facility to do it and a much more needed injection to boost the local economy.

So act quickly Samoa and do some heavy lobbying to seal the deal so we can pay those debts down and help our people install some drinking water facility for those unfortunate people in the rural areas and to provide much more needed jobs for the rural urban migration people from Savai’i that are looking for jobs. Good luck!
