Island Rock Company Ltd has stepped in to lend a hand to the Samoa Weightlifting Federation by donating a full set of uniforms to the team that will be representing Samoa at the Oceania Championship next month.

The donation which is estimated to cost $5,000 includes shirts, tracksuit pants and sports shoes.

Financial Controller of Island Rock Ltd, Hanna Wallwork-Tuala, said the company wanted to help the lifters realize their dreams.  “Our company is all about giving back to the community and so this is another way of doing is to help those who really need it,” she said.

“These kids will be representing Samoa in the Oceania Championship in Fiji and so we want them to look good and having uniforms show other countries that they have one heart and one soul.

“They are there to compete and they will work together to make sure that Samoa’s name is on the top.

“These kids have so much to be proud of and we should all be proud of them too because they are not getting anything in return but they are doing this for the name of our country.

“So good luck to the weightlifting team and may the good Lord be with you all.”

Senior member of the Weightlifting team Faavae Faauliuli accepted the donation and acknowledged the support from Island Rock Company Ltd.

“This is more than what we expected,” he said. “So we thank you very much from the Management team to the staff members of Island Rock Company Ltd thank you very much for these great uniforms. “We will wear it with pride and we will do our 100 percent best to win gold medals for Samoa.”
