The Gambling Control Authority (G.C.A.) presented a cheque of $5,000 to the Samoa Tennis Association yesterday.
Held at the G.C.A. headquarters in Apia, the Manager of Licensing Regulatory and Compliance of G.C.A. Auimatagi Fa’afetai Ah Kuoi presented the assistance.
“This cheque we are presenting today (yesterday) is a request from the Samoa Tennis Association for our assistance in the association,” said Auimatagai.
“The financial assistance will help in the development of tennis, especially with our young ones and also with all the plans of the association this year.”
“Therefore, we have decided to present this amount to help them out and assist them with their request.”
“We also want to let everyone know that the financial assistant that the Gambling Control Authority is giving out to each sport is through the lotto as well as other games that we are advertising.”
“So it is really the people of Samoa who are contributing to help each sports and the community as well.”
Assistant Secretary of the Samoa Tennis Association, Yvette Tavita-Ioelu acknowledges the support of the G.C.A.
“The Tennis Association’s calendar this year is very busy,” she said.
“So in order for us to move forward, we needed the financial assistant, hence why we asked the G.C.A. for help because they are our major partner when it comes to sports.”
“This money will help a lot in our plans and activities this year, especially with the development of the sports among the young ones.”
“As we all know rugby is not the only sport, there are other minor sports such as tennis that carries the Samoan flag to overseas countries by sending our potential players to represent us in overseas tournaments.”
“So we are thankful for the support and surely this financial assistance will go a long way.”
