PR - Since the launch of the Pacific-American Climate Fund (P.A.C.A.M.) project in July 2016, the Project Management Unit has conducted six trainings already, four in Upolu and two in Savai’i.
P.A.C.A.M. is a five-year USAID project that provides grants to civil society organizations throughout the Pacific in support of climate change adaptation measures.
This programme is now rolling out its 3rd Savai’i Training Programme in Salailua of the Itu Salega District.
The training will start on Monday 26th February 2018 – 3rdMarch 2018, at the Methodist Hall, Salailua, Savai’i. Representatives from various churches are invited to attend this training programme next week.
The training programme focuses on training the participants, on Climate Change Project Design Management.
The training looks at Integrating Climate Change Adaptation issues into Planning, Monitoring, Budgeting and Reporting of project proposal and designs for the villages.
The participants of previously completed trainings are now left with the task of utilizing the knowledge and skills learnt, in developing proposals to donor agencies that can provided funding for climate Change Adaptation projects.
This is the 3rd training for Savaii Island after two previous training programmes in Savai’i and four in Upolu in 2016 and 2017.
Previous participants have commented that this is has opened another pathway for them to seek assistance from funding opportunities on climate change and adaptation projects.
There are funding opportunities in Samoa that village communities can access, but we need people who can prepare proposals for their communities.
The training programme allows this knowledge based sharing for the people trained, to know how to access these funds by preparing and developing clear proposals.
