The Civil Society Support Programme (C.S.S.P.) hosted its second call for proposals for Non – Government Organisations (N.G.O.) last week Friday at the T.A.T.T.E. Convention Centre.

The meeting was supported through the C.S.S.P. under Australian Aid.

The workshop invited eligible N.G.Os with the aim to support N.G.Os access funding from the Civil Society Support Facility.

Taupau Joseph Mulipola, Grants Facility Manager, C.S.S.P., emphasized during his presentation, “Every N.G.O. needs to be registered with M.C.I.L. to be eligible to apply to this Call for Proposal”.

Through this Call for Proposal, N.G.O.s are encouraged to apply for funding to implement projects, which focus on community development primarily targeting the most vulnerable in our communities.

The programme also seeks work with civil societies where its priorities align with the C.S.S.P. objectives, working closely with Samoa’s own development plans and development partner’s aid priorities.

“For this N.G.O. Call for Proposals, C.S.S.P. recognises the civil society organisations are diverse and bring a diverse range of strengths and capacities,” Theresa Masoe-Taimalelagi, Programme Manager, C.S.S.P.

With this being said, C.S.S.P. is expecting a variety of applications from N.G.Os but at the same time enable them to enhance their capacities to deliver services and activities to improve the well being of communities and families with a focus on strengthening youth empowerment, gender equity, and disability inclusiveness.

The maximum amount for funding of successful proposal is $200,000.00 with a pool of funding ranging from $800,000.00 to $1.2million.

The programme also seeks N.G.O. proposals which aligns with the C.S.S.P. purpose and objectives and also with the Government of Samoa’s Strategy for Development (S.D.S. 2016-2020), the M.W.C.S.D. Community Development Plan (2016-2021) and regional plans; having gender equality, inclusion of people with disability and climate resilience as important cross cutting issues.

Participants expressed excitement about the timeliness of the Fund to support local programmes addressing social, economic and environmental problems arising as from most pressing issues in Samoa today.

Thirty six registered N.G.Os attended the workshop and had the opportunity to be informed on how to fill out the application form and develop strong and relevant proposals to be submitted.

A general application form and brochure are available on the C.S.S.P. official website and as well as from the C.S.S.P. office in Apia (Ground floor – N.P.F. Building).
