The unexpected death of a father of Pata, Falelatai is under investigation.
This was confirmed by the Police Spokesperson Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu during a weekly press conference with the media on Friday.
“The death of the 66-year-old was reported on the 14th of January at around 11pm,” said Su’a.
Taupaū Taylor Pulusi went to get some coconuts from his plantation in the afternoon. His family waited for him to return but he never came home.
“The family then informed the Faleolo Police Post and together with the help of the aumaga, they conducted a search and rescue.
“Some of the aumaga eventually found him lying at his plantation already dead.”
Su’a said the cause of death is under investigation.
“The deceased did not have any bruises or anything on his body except for a scratch on top of his left eye.”
Taupaū’s wife, who did not want to be named declined to comment on her husband’s sudden death.
“My kids and I are still in shocked about what happened,” said the grieving wife.
One of the taule’ale’a within the village, James Fa’asuaga said he knew Taupaū.
“Taupaū is like an angel in our village because the only time we see him on the road is on Sunday when he passes by to go to church,” said Mr. Fa’asuaga.
“We were all shocked when we were told that we had to help out with the police search.
“He was a humble father and his wife and children loved him very much.
“It’s just sad that he left without a word to his children and his wife but hopefully the doctors and police will find out the cause of his death.”
