Parker inspires next generation of boxers

Not only are children day dreaming of becoming the next rugby star like Uale Mai or Alesana Tuilagi, they are now looking to become the next heavy weight champion of the world just like, Lupesoliai La’auliolemalietoa Joseph Parker.

His win for Samoa has not only made his country proud, but has inspired a legion of up and coming boxers so that they too can one day bring glory to their country. Lupesoliai is now the role model for young athletes from Samoa who aspire to compete on the international level.

Especially so, for the young man who had the honor of leading the parade in style, Kerisiano Brown.

Brown is an amateur boxer from the Marist Boxing Ring and hails from the villages of Sogi and Vaitele-Uta.

It  wasn’t very difficult to pick him out of the crowd as he stood atop the  Toa Gas vehicle fervently punching the air and showing his skills to all of Samoa during the parade

He told the Samoa Observer that he was absolutely nervous before the parade but once it began he found the spotlight quite comfortable.

Brown is one of the many legions of young Samoan boxers who look up to Lupesoliai.

He stated, “Parker really inspires me to become a professional fighter. I look up to him to become a world champion, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Although Brown lead the parade, he had not yet had the chance to meet his idol.  Hopefully, that all changed as he had the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the champion.
