Time for Chairman Tuilaepa to step down

Dear Editor,

Our Samoa Rugby Union will never progress under Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi’s rule.

He has been at the helm of the S.R.U. operations for many years without success. It has been documented as the worst period of Samoan rugby in the modern era and everything is going downward within the S.R.U.

You only look at the poor record of our rugby teams’ performance for both 15s and 7s, the poor record of S.R.U. financial status, poor training and development programmes, no major sponsorships because of poor results.

Why? Because the chairman is calling the shots without any idea what he is doing. Our Prime Minister’s methods kill our rugby in Samoa.

The Manu Samoa team who performs well against Scotland a week ago was beaten by Romania for the first time in history last weekend.

This is a true reflection of a bad decision by Stui when he discarded the hard work and recommendation by the selection panel and directly appointed someone who came seventh after the selection process ahead of all the other top 6 interviewees.

To be honest, I have nothing against Fuimaono Titimaea Tafua but I rather let proper procedures and processes play its role than getting the coaching job from dirty politics.

This happens in senior government positions if P.M. is involved and it’s happening at the S.R.U. too.

And you know what happens?

Both S.R.U. and government are failed entities and will never improve under Stui.  Simple solution for S.R.U. is for the big man to step down, period.

Oh one thing, if S.R.U. is bankrupt as confirmed by Stui, it’s time to close down. Kakou ke fiu e lafo kupe e akia’e le kakou Iugi lakapi ae le kaikai agai I luma leaga e amio valea kele kama ia e kokogu.
