No water, no electricity.

In 2017 when you’d think people would no longer have this problem, Fili Fale, 57-years-old of Leulumoega-uta begs to differ.

Today, he remains without these basic utilities.

Fale is a single man and he is a farmer. 

He was assigned by his extended family members to look after their 1 acre plantation in the forestry area so for that reason, he has been staying there for more than 5 years now. 

 “I have no problem at all living in areas like this, in fact it’s peaceful and I get to enjoy it by myself,”

Asked if there were any issues and he said:

“Nope, the only problem here is water shortage.”

Fale said he can live without electricity but for water he can’t.

“We need water for our every day necessities so therefore life without water is no life at all,” he said.

Fale said they have submitted several requests for help.

“It seems like it has fallen on deaf ears,” he said.

“A pledge was also made to charity groups for a water tank to deliver water to our places but I guess that too has gone with the wind.

 “I have been patiently waiting but what’s the use of waiting when your plea has been ignored?”
