The Ministry of Police is investigating a robbery and assault of an Asian couple in Vailoa by two men, who were armed with machetes, early Thursday morning.

This was confirmed by Commissioner of Police, Fuiavaili’ili Egon Keil, in response to questions from the Samoa Observer, in relation to a video which surfaced on line showing the crime.

“Preliminary investigation indicates the men involved are not the prisoners. We have leads and we are working hard to bring the men involved to answer for their crimes,” he said.

The armed men stole $60,000 in cash from the shop.

One-and-One mart owners in Vailoa suffered minor injuries, when they fought off the two men who covered their faces when they held up the couple.
