Even the rain is beautiful

The morning started off with some warm rain showers and what better way to wait out the rain than to have some cold bevvies, Lee and Georgina from of New Zealand had the right idea when Dear Tourist met them by the pool at the Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s hotel.

This is the couple’s first time in Samoa and they had travelled the Pacific extensively before deciding to come on a quick escape for a very special reason.

“This is our honeymoon,” said Georgina.

“We got married in January on an island off Tonga but we had 20 other people who stayed with us for five days, so we thought we should escape for a few days on our own on an island we haven’t done.”

When they arrived, they noticed a few standout things they had seen.

“We thought it was really beautiful and really nice,” said Georgina.

“Just with the lush green, flowers and the colourful plants around and clean,” Lee added.

“That’s one thing I’ve noticed compared to some other islands we have been too. We were pleasantly surprised.”

The couple had not been in Samoa long when the rain arrived causing them to spend some time within the tropical walls of their resort.

“We were staying at Saletoga Sands and only just got here at 3pm yesterday and just chilled out,” said Lee.

“The weather has been wet like today so we just had a few drinks at the bar. We hired a car and came into town.”

“It’s very nice at Saletoga Resort, it’s fairly new being that it’s only been open for three years,” Georgina observed.

“Yeah it’s a lovely setting right on the beach; we got a nice beach bungalow. However, I think we haven’t been impressed with the food there so far, it was quite pricey for what it is.”

The weather hijacked their plans as the couple had planned to head out to the trench but the downpour threw a spanner into the works and instead they opted for drinks at Aggie Greys instead.

“So the plan was leaving here to go the trench but…” said Georgina looking around at all the rain “I don’t think we will, I’m hoping to do swimming with the turtles, I don’t think that we will do that either today!”

At this point, the heavens turned up the water pressure as it down poured buckets of water causing us all to seek refuge in the restaurant area instead where the conversation turned to Aggies Greys.

“Everybody says you got to go to Aggie Greys so we thought we would,” said Georgina.

“Actually I was expecting it to be old and tired seeing as I heard it was the first hotel on the island but I’m really impressed with what I’ve seen. I think it’s quite nice.”

The couple were going to enjoy more drinks and wait out the rain hoping for a weekend full of activities.
