Samoa and China sign key agreements
The signing ceremony for the two Framework Agreements on the construction of the China-Samoa Friendship Park and the Arts and Culture Centre took place at the Office of the Prime Minister yesterday.
P.M. Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi and China’s Ambassador to Samoa, Wang Xuefeng, signed the agreements.
Funding of these projects is from grant aid assistance provided by Huizhou city, Guangdong Province, China.
The China-Samoa Friendship Park centrally located at Eleele Fou will cover a land area of 40,000 ㎡.
The main facilities for the Park include an outdoor performance space, open sports field, tidal garden, café /dining area and a children’s playground.
The Park will provide a range of activities and facilities for the public. The Arts and Culture Centre to be located at Malifa will include a cultural, heritage and arts area, space for performing arts and orchestra, art shop, cultural exhibition area, library and restaurant.
Since 2016, Huizhou Municipal People’s Government have donated 23 sets of electronic teaching platforms and 3 computer rooms to colleges in Samoa . Huizhou has similarly provided funding assistance to more than 2,000 students from 60 primary schools and colleges through the Guangdong (Huizhou) Friendship Scholarship and likewise donated a substantial amount of medical equipment to local hospitals.
