Big changes are in store for the Samoa Beverage Company.

The company’s name is changing, and a new beer has been launched, as staff commemorate the company’s third anniversary.

“We will be changing our name to Taula Beverage Company,” said General Manger Enele Westerlund.

“A lot of the things in the past years, we have learned from, and we have improved a lot.

“So on our third birthday we thought ‘why not launch a new label, a new beer and a new name?’” He was excited to show off their new product.

“Today we launched a new beer brand. It’s a new label and new recipe which we have been perfecting [over] the last couple of years,” he said.

“We chose [to reveal it on Friday] at the M.A.F. Agriculture show in Savai’i, because Savai’i has [done] a lot for the company and they have been supporting our company this whole time.

“So today is just a show of recognition and respect for what Savai’i has been able to do for us, so today we thought, in return, let them be the first people to know about the newest thing that we are doing here.”

Asked about the challenges in getting the new beer up and running, the General Manager spoke of international demand.

“There has been a lot of demands and the capacity we had was just enough, and we had to really struggle to make sure that everyone gets the product that they wanted on time. “We had to plan for when we can actually produce and issue the new labels,” he said.

Existing products have seen changes, he explained.

“So the small Taula is now our Taula original and our bigger Taula is now our Taula Strong which is 7 percent, whereas Taula original is 4.9 percent.

“The hops come from New Zealand, Australia, America and Germany. “We will start distributing out to everyone once we are done here in Savai’i.”
