Don’t be crabby

Think a minute…Crabs are very interesting creatures. If you put several of them in a bucket, the moment one of them starts crawling out of the bucket, the other crabs will pull him back down. So not one of the crabs ever succeeds in getting out.

They just keep stopping each other from climbing higher than the rest of them. We humans are perhaps more like crabs than we think. We see a good thing the minute someone else sees it first! “We try to get even with our enemies, and ahead of our friends.” But we need to realize that “when we’re green with envy, we’re ripe for problems.”

Whether we admit it or not, most of us want other people to be just a little less successful than we are. Friends are always happy about your success, just as long as you’re not more successful than they are! But one of the first secrets to success is not to compare your life with other’s.

It’s strange that many of us seem to know how to live everybody else’s lives but our own. Yet what happens in someone else’s life has nothing to do with ours. “Criticizing someone else’s garden won’t keep the weeds out of your own.”

Successful people look at life through a telescope and see how great it can be, but small, petty people look at life through a microscope and only see the faults and mistakes of others. Being envious and jealous of others is just a slow method of suicide that kills both your health and happiness.

You have a special ability and personality that no one else has. So use yours the best way possible. Stop comparing yourself with others. Birds don’t swim. Fish don’t climb trees. And cows don’t fly. Enjoy your own natural abilities and develop your own style. Make the most of your assets and you’ll make the most of your life.

But only your Maker has the key to unlock your full potential inside. So why not ask Him to take charge of your life every day? It’s with His power you can start enjoying the success He’s planned for you to have. Just Think a Minute…
