The Ministry of Police has warned members of the public as well as the National Health Services that it is illegal not to report crime. The warning comes from Acting Assistant Police Commissioner, Sala’a Moananu Sala’a, following an incident where a 41-year-old man from Sa’anapu died of first-degree burns.

A man accused of having sexual intercourse with a six-year-old girl and sexual violation of a two-year-old girl has been granted legal aid. Viliamu Paulo appeared before the Chief Justice, His Honor Patu Tiava’asu’e Falefatu Sapolu last week.

A Cabinet appointed Commission of Inquiry investigating the conduct of two senior Police officers has recommended that their services be terminated. Chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice, Lesatele Rapi Vaai, the Inquiry focused on the conduct of suspended Police Commissioner Samoa Mulinuu in handling of the criminal matter against Sililoto Peneueta.
