The Ministry of Police has reinstated Assistant Commissioners.

The decision was endorsed by Cabinet last week.

The Assistant Commissioners are: Fauono Talalelei Tapu, Fata Aviga Salale and Afamasaga Michael Soonalole and Samoa Mulinuu Mulinuu. 

Fauono remains as the Assistant Commissioner for Operations; Fata Aviga is the Assistant Commissioner for the big island of Savai’i, Afamasaga is the Assistant Commissioner of General Policing while the newcomer Samoa is the Assistant Commissioner of the Crimes Division. 

Police Commissioner Fuiavailili Egon Keil was not available for a comment yesterday.

Assistant Commissioner Fauono said he thanked God for giving him the opportunity again to continue his service in this capacity.

The positions are for three years. All Assistant Commissioners commence their work this week.
