This matter was called on 12 May 2016 for the prosecution to finalise charges. 

It was for mentions and not a hearing matter. 

The prosecution had advised the court on 12 May 2016 that the charges are final and the police have already filed substituted charges. 

Unfortunately, the court noted that the charges were not before the court at the time. 

The Court was of the view that the police had not filed the charges as there was nothing in the court file. Hence, the Court had dismissed the charges. 

The police had confirmed with the National Prosecution Office that the charges were filed on 8 April 2016.  In reliance on this information provided by police, the National Prosecution Office is reviewing the matter whether or not to appeal.
