Leulumoega Fou College celebrated the opening ceremony of their $63,438 library yesterday.

The Chairman of Church Education, Reverend Dr. Paulo Koria said the project is a key milestone for the College as it is an investment in the future of education, not just for church members but for Samoa.

“A library is useful to anyone because it is one of the places where you can find peace and do your own work without anyone disturbing you,” he said.

“A library is a place to go to when you need to develop your mind by reading and learning about the knowledge and understanding that reading books has to offer.

“A library is not a place for you to go and talk; rather it is a place for you to be able to get away from all the noise. So if you think about talking when you step in the library, please do not bother to enter.

“You know, a lot of schools are still trying to build their own library because a school without a library is a poor school so be thankful that you have one.”

Principal Fau’olo Apevai Mataafa acknowledged the government of Samoa, the students, Parents and Teachers Association and everyone else who have contributed.

She also asked for help from anyone who wants to help them fill the shelves of their library with books.

According to Principal Fau’olo, some donors have already gifted them with very important books such as dictionaries and thesauruses.

“This is a huge amount of money to spend on all these and I thank God because we now have a place to study more for new knowledge and wisdom.

“My advice to the students of Leulumoega Fou Collge is ‘please use it wisely and when you have children in the future and will  probably go to this school, this library will be of use to them as well.”
