Three Savaii males charged with possession of marijuana

Three males from Savaii have been charged with possession of narcotics.

Two are being held in custody but one is out on bail awaitlng his court appearance.

This was confirmed by the Police Spokesperson Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu.

The first matter was reported to Tuasivi by a concerned member who was on the 12 o’clock ferry on Monday 12th of March.

“The accused is a 30-year-old from Savaii and one cigarette of marijuana was found on him,” said Su’a.

“He is scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court on the 24th of March but he is out on bail and has been ordered to sign in at the Faleolo Police Office every Tuesday until the day of his court case.”

The second male charged with possession was found  at the Salelologa Market.

“The matter, reported to one of the police officers on duty on the 7th of March, was that a male was seen selling marijuana at the market,” said Su’a.

“The accused is 20 years old. He was searched and  51 marijuana cigarettes were found on him.

“At the moment, he is in custody awaiting his court appearance on the 20th of March.”

The third arrest was of a 35 year old male from one of the villages at Faasaleleaga.

“It was on Tuesday as well when a member of the village contacted the police about a man who was believed to have marijuana on him,” said Su’a.

“Police went over and found the accused holding onto a pencil case while sleeping at one of the family’s houses. 

“The police searched the pencil case and found 121 cigarettes and three small branches of marijuana.

“He is being held in custody to wait for his court appearance on the 20th of March at the Supreme Court,” said Su’a.
