Is President Donald Trump the next Hitler?

America was considered a place where everyone was treated fairly and led as an example for the rest of the world.  So what happened?  Donald Trump won, and for better or worse, he is now my President!  He wants to control the country, but he can’t even control his own hair. In my school, many kids are saying Donald Trump is a funny kind of guy - well sure if he is not your President.  In a victory that surprised many, with jaw-dropping sighs like me, Donald Trump has been declared the 45th president elect of the United States of America for the next four years. America elected their first black President for eight years, now it elected its very first orange one.  Is orange the new black nowadays? The presidency is the most important job in the world because he makes ripple-effect decisions that could save or destroy lives.  It’s not a reality show or joke!  What I don’t get is electing a billionaire that is appointing other billionaires to fix the system that made them billionaires.  That must be a special kind of stupid if you ask me.

I am NOT a big Trump fan and about half of America hates him because he is rash, impulsive and vengeful.  It’s not even a month into his presidency and already the world has hurtled into an endless spiral of disaster. Just turn on your television-you’re in for an ugly surprise. I disagree with most of the things he says on sexism, racism, religion and immigration.  Here are a few of the many inappropriate things Donald Trump has said:

RACISM: “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems and they’re bringing those problems. They’re bringing drugs, human trafficking, they’re bringing crime.”  Okay, so we elected Trump to fight immigration, but his immigrant wife is our new first lady…one word, “Que?”

IMMIGRATION:  “I will build a great wall — and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me —and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”  Right this is the man that said, “China built a wall, and they have almost no Mexicans.”

RELIGION:  “I, Donald J. Trump, am calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on here!”  Yes, he claimed to have many Muslim friends, but when asked for specific names, the only one he could come up with was “The Genie from Aladdin.”

CLIMATE CHANGE:  “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.”  He said, ”If there’s a hole in the ozone layer, just comb some ozone from another part over it,” like his hair I’m assuming!

PRISONER OF WAR- JOHN McCAIN:  “He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

PROTESTORS:  “I love the old days. You know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out on a stretcher, folks. It’s true. … I’d like to punch him in the face, I’ll tell you.  If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously. Okay? Just knock them out. I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. I promise.”  How is this guy with the nuclear launch codes going to make peace between nations? Give me a break.

The scariest thought yet is people are saying Donald Trump and Hitler have a lot in common, like bring out the worst in their countries.  They both used racism, anger and ignorance to rise to power. They took advantage of people’s fears, proposed mass deportations, promised to make their countries great again and blamed minorities for their countries problems.  You see the Nazis were able to brainwash the Germans because they were angry with their poor economy and willing to follow anyone who said they could solve their problems.  Sounds familiar?  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not laying out a conspiracy theory, just stating the obvious. Hitler was Anti-Jew while Trump is Anti- Muslim, Hitler blamed Jews for Germany’s problems and Trump blames immigrants for America’s problems.  Hitler thought Jews should wear special ID’s and Trump thinks Muslims should wear special ID’s. The similarities are terrifying!

So the question remains, what is the lesson we can learn from America’s problem?  Undeniably, President Donald Trump does not represent me, my opinions, or my mood toward the United States of America.  But despite the cries on the news from protesting or how loud, destructive, or ill-mannered people can be sometimes, we will not always get what we want. Regardless of our stance on President Trump, we the people live by the principles of freedom.  Freedom of Speech.  Freedom to a Peaceful Assembly. I understand that President Trump is not an ideal leader. I completely get that.  We may differ in opinion, but we respect each person’s right to free speech.

If you think President Trump has divided America, then be open to coming together again. This is not a time for fear or hate.  If you think President Trump represents hate, then let us be brave enough to spread love.  If you think President Trump is the next Hitler, then do not be afraid to take up space, feel empowered to make a difference, to make a peaceful change, to speak up and let our voices be heard.   We have potential as absolutely ordinary people to change the world.  Have courage, have faith that good will prevail, because we will prevail!
