Samoa continues to woo ex-residents

It is hard to shake off the charm of Samoa, especially if you are a former resident.

Mathilde Kraft, 24, was a resident in Apia until March this year— when her stint as a coastal and marine assistant at the Secretariat of Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP)—ended. But she loved the place so much she came back.

“I left in March but I came back because I loved it. I had time off so I wanted to spend it in Samoa.

“The weather has been so great. I got to do different things than I used to do, when I was working overseas when I had more time,” she said.

Having been a former resident for eight months, Mathilde has checked all the boxes on discovering the beauty of the country and all that Samoa has to offer.

“I have been paddling and snorkeling, it’s always great taking the bus everywhere and it has been pretty cool being back on the island,” she added.

While the experience of exploring more of Samoa continues to thrill her, she has to make time for studies as a masters candidate in international security, back in her home country of France.
