No problem too big to be solved

It has been said that family is where life begins.

And it is within families where trouble begins as well; that’s if the parents are not carrying out their duties anymore.

Talamatavao Motu of Moamoa Faleasi’u knows this.

“In this day and age, I am just surprised at the number of crimes and problems we have now in our country,” said Talamatavao to the Village Voice.

“I mean, I’ve always thought that our country was different from other countries but I guess not anymore.

“I’m not someone perfect but as a parent, I understand that all parents want the best for their children.

“And I think we can all agree that once your child does something bad, who are you going to blame first? The parents of course.

“And we should be blamed because we are the ones who are not doing our duty, we have lost our voices to tell off our children about what they shouldn’t do in the first place.

“If parents forget about their responsibilities, then their kids will lose their respect for everyone else around them.

“That is why I’m happy that the governance of our village has made families an important part because if there is a good council and governance in the village, then their actions will be reflected on the families within the village.

“And when things are going well in our families, we don’t have to worry about anyone going to jail.

“That’s just my opinion but everyone else is entitled to their own opinion on how this matter has come to exist.

“It’s all up to the parents and the village to work together, to find a solution for the things that have already happened. No problem is too big to be solved right?

The 65 year old is also a big supporter of the government.

“Another thing to add on is the fact that people are complaining about the cost of living being too much.

“The only reason why the cost of living is like this is because the government are trying to put in more to the development of our country and we shouldn’t be complaining about that because our country receiving aid from other countries is definitely a new thing and an improvement for us.

“So I’m truly thankful to the government for what they are doing because they are also making our kids their priority in terms that they are helping out in a way to get them opportunities to study and work overseas; which let’s face it, is not something we can get on our own.”
