The Christchurch-based Crusaders have lost Fiji star Nemani Nadolo and All Blacks prop Joe Moody to injuries ahead of Saturday's Super Rugby quarterfinal against the Lions in Johannesburg.

Giant winger Nadolo injured his hamstring during last weekend's 35-10 loss to the Hurricanes in Christchurch, a defeat which meant the seven-time champions have to travel to South Africa for the playoffs. Moody has not recovered from a neck injury which prevented him playing in the last two rounds.

However, All Blacks lock Sam Whitelock and scrumhalf Andy Ellis, who were both late withdrawals from the team that played the Hurricanes, have recovered and are likely to play in Johannesburg. Ellis injured his calf muscle during pre-match warm-ups and Whitelock had an illness.
