The Samoa Commercial bank has donated $5,000 cash and $700 worth of food to the Home of the Elders at Mapuifagalele. The donation was presented last week.

In an interview with the President of the S.C.B. Social Club, Ioane Maletino, he said the donation is their way of lending a helping hand to the sisters as well as the senior citizens who are there.

“So basically the main purpose of the donation is to lend a hand to the sisters who are working so hard at Mapuifagalele in looking after our elders who are living there as well as helping them by giving them some food and also money for their everyday needs,” said Mr. Malatino.

“Last year was the first time we donated to the Home of the Elders and we donated during Mother’s Day.

“This year we had planned to do the donation during Father’s Day but then we decided to move the date forward.”

Asked how they came up with the amount, Mr. Malatino said the $5,000 was from the bank’s own money.

“We have a budget that we have already put aside for these kinds of assistance but as for the food it was the money from our social club that we withdrew to buy the food,” he said.

“It’s a good feeling when working knowing that you have done something to give back to the community and that’s how the Samoa Commercial Bank feels.

“We are happy to help out the community especially our elders who are praying for us every day at Mapuifagalele.

“If Lord provides and willing we will provide for them in the years to come.”
