Police probe mystery death
The Ministry of Police is investigating the death of a 53-year-old man who was found with severe injuries to his head on Wednesday.
The man is from Vailele and Salelologa.
“I can only confirm that an investigation has been launched into this homicide case, but details of the case cannot be divulged,” said Police Media Spokesperson, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo.
The Police Superintendent declined to comment whether any suspects have been arrested and if alcohol was a factor.
“Again, all I can say is that the investigation is underway. I cannot discuss anything pertaining to the case right now.
But according to a neighbour, the deceased was consuming alcohol earlier in the day and he was found on Wednesday night with severe injuries to his head.
“He was making unreasonable noise because he was overly intoxicated and was later found unconscious in the back of his house with severe injuries to his head.
“Unfortunately, the man died on his way to the hospital.”
The Samoa Observer attempted to reach the deceased’s family for a comment but was unsuccessful.
