Two of Sheraton Hotel and Bungalow’s best fire knife dancers went head to head on Tuesday evening for an opportunity to advance to the next round of the Faletalimalo Siva Afi challenge.

The competitors were Ieti To’omalatai and Tom Feagaimali’i.

As usual, two worthy opponents from each hotel in Samoa are nominated to compete in this challenge in the hope of finding out the best and who will be named “The Faletalimalo Challenge 2018 winner”.

“My father was a very skilful fire dancer in his time,” says Mr. To’omalatai.

“Because of his passion, he invested all his time to train me to be like him and to one day get an opportunity to be in this competition.”

Mr. Feagaimali’i was thrilled to be part of the competition.

“I had the experience of my life,” he said.

“It was always my dream to perform in front of an audience and tonight I did that.”

Despite the results, the cousins embraced every moment of their time to entertain the audience.

Siva Afi Entertainment has been running the Ailao Club in Samoa for 17 years.

“Our creed is to preserve and promote Samoan Culture through the art of Samoan Fire Knife dancing” says Leota Lene, the key facilitator of the event.

All participants will receive monetary prizes in all levels of the competition. This week’s challenge will be the best two fire knife dancers from Sheraton Resort Mulifanua.

They will be Fa’afetai Laban and Pasikale To’omalatai.
