Family returns for unfinished business

The Graham  family was   leisurely awaiting their tour guide inside the lobby of Taumeasina Island Resort when discussion among the four ensued over a spread of brochures and tourism flyers.

Dear Tourist was curious as to where they planned to head out to and so enquired with mother, Debbie, who chatted to us about their holiday so far.

The family had just arrived to Taumeasina to finish out the final four days of their eight-day holiday. The family had started off at Lalomanu where they had been staying at Litia Sini resort which Debbie said was turning into a fast favorite for them.

“We’ve been down at Litia Sini Resort and it’s the second time I’ve been there. We came four years ago and we really loved it down there in the beach fale at the bottom by the water and it was like they made you feel part of the family.”

The family had done a bit of exploring in the last couple of days and Debbie commented that at times it was a mission.

“We hired a car and went out to a couple of tourist spots, like the giant clams and swam in the ocean trench which was just fantastic. We also got lost,” Debbie laughed.

“But all you had to do was stop and ask someone and they set you back on the right path so that was nice.”

Coming back to Samoa was a  case of unfinished business for Debbie whose last visit to our shores left lasting impressions which stayed with her for the past four years.

“We were only here for five days the last time about four years ago,” she said.

“And I guess that was a little taster to show us what Samoa had to offer the next time we were able to come back and do a little bit more.

We like the people and it’s very relaxed and I remembered it was not as touristy as all the island Pacific Islands like Fiji.”

Young son, Jack, decided to weigh in on their Samoan trip to tell us his favorite things.

“I love the beaches and the snorkeling because the water is really warm here,” he said.

“Oh yeah I really liked the banana donuts with the coconut jam,” Dear Tourist made a mental note of said donut.

Debbie was looking forward to Taumeasina’s famous fiafia nights, happy to have caught one on this trip and they were looking forward to the food mostly.

“I just like the friendly local people and one thing we liked about Taumeasina is the local food. We missed their fiafia night but we are looking forward to the one here tonight.”

The family said they were bound to return and hopefully convert their friends and family to consider Samoa as their next holiday destination,

“We’ll be back for sure and I recommend Samoa all the time to my family and friends who talk about having a Pacific Island holiday, I always tell them to come to Samoa.”
