Deputy P.M. attends C.O.P. meeting in Fiji

Deputy Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mata’afa, is in Fiji this week.

She is leading Samoa’s Delegation at the 2017 Ministerial Dialogue, Pre-C.O.P. in Nadi.

She is accompanied by Oceans and Climate Change Manager C.I. Pacific, Lagipoiva Cherelle Jackson, A.C.E.O. International Relations, Francella Strickland, and Samoa’s lead climate negotiator and A.C.E.O, Anne Rasmussen. 

The pre-C.O.P 2017 is designed primarily as a series of closed sessions for political leaders and key advisers. 

The objective of the pre-C.O.P. is to allow the leaders of member parties to frankly exchange views of key political deliverables, rather than technical details, for the upcoming Conference of the Parties – C.O.P.23 in Bonn, Germany.

The two-day conference started yesterday. 

The C.O.P.23 Presidency the Fiji Government’s held a “Partnership Day” for invited guests this is in advance of the Pre-C.O.P.
